Student Agreement Form: JSA Diplomat Program
Administered by CET Academic Programs
Different weather and living conditions in the program’s location(s) take their toll on one's physical health. To enjoy
the program to the fullest, we ask that the student evaluate his/her health carefully before the program departure
date. The student should be in good physical and mental health and prepared for some arduousness. If the student
has any physical condition requiring special attention, diets or treatment, the student must report this in writing to
CET upon acceptance. It is very difficult for CET to make accommodations for conditions of which we are unaware,
so please notify us promptly!
Cancellation and Refunds
If a student chooses to interrupt his/her participation in the program for any reason whatsoever or chooses not to
attend certain parts of the program, there is no refund for any unused portions of the program. All cancellations by a
student after acceptance into the program must be made in writing and shared with CET. Please check with JSA for
more details about cancellation penalties.
Should CET need to cancel a program in progress for any reason, including increased risk to the health and safety of
our students or other force majeure reasons, the student will receive a refund of all recoverable monies at the time of
cancellation. Students should bear in mind that CET pays some costs in full prior to the start of any program, and
these costs may be non-refundable.
Baggage and other personal effects are carried at the owner’s risk entirely. It is understood that international tickets
for travel to and from the program location as well as any other tickets purchased by the student constitute a contract
between the student and the operator concerned; CET cannot be held responsible for problems that ensue.
Student Conduct
Dangerous activities (such as hang-gliding, skydiving, bungee-jumping or riding motorcycles or motorized bicycles)
are strictly forbidden while on the program. Students who choose to engage in dangerous activities do so at their own
Use of recreational drugs while attending a CET program is strictly prohibited. Breaking this rule may result in
the student’s expulsion from the program in which case the student is required to leave the program within 24
hours, with no refund for any unused portion of the program.
Students are expected to respect the property of the host institution. All assessments for damages to
property are the student’s individual responsibility.
Any behavior on the part of the student deemed improper by the on-site staff or the host institution, including
but not limited to violent acts, improper language, theft, use or possession of alcohol and academic dishonesty
will be subject to formal reprimand and may result in expulsion from the program.
In addition, CET will not tolerate any form of harassment, sexual or otherwise. This includes but is not limited to
unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, or any intimidating or hostile acts directed toward any individual, regardless of
his/her association with CET. This applies to, but is not limited to, fellow students, local roommates, language
partners, faculty and other staff members.

As a condition and in consideration of my acceptance to and participation in one of CET’s programs
(hereafter "The Program"), I the undersigned, hereby agree as follows:
1. I have read the policies at the beginning of this document with respect to Health, Cancellations and Refunds,
Transportation and Student Conduct, and I agree to abide by these policies. I understand that The Program begins
with the takeoff from the CET departure airport (when applicable) or upon arrival at The Program site. I understand
that The Program ends upon completion of the flight back to the CET arrival airport (when applicable) or the
departure from The Program site. I acknowledge that I have voluntarily applied to participate in The Program and
that I have read the relevant brochure and other application materials.
2. I release and hold harmless CET and its affiliates (which term shall include parent corporation, subsidiaries,
officers, directors, shareholders, agents and employees of CET as well as CET itself) and the Sponsor of The
Program, my school, school board and on-site staff (“Released Parties”) from, and agree not to sue the Released
Parties for, any and all claims, demands, actions, lawsuits, settlements, judgments, damages, losses, costs and
expenses of any nature whatsoever, known and unknown (including attorney’s fees) on account of or arising from
personal injury, including bodily injury, permanent disability, death, mental anguish, emotional distress, physical,
property or other damage and any cause whatsoever related in any way to my participation in the program from
which I may suffer to the fullest extent permitted by law except if the danger or loss is caused by the gross
negligence or willful misconduct of CET employees. I further agree to release and hold harmless the Released
Parties from any and all acts of God, war (whether declared or undeclared), terrorist activities, or threats of
terrorist activities, instability in the destination country, incidents of violence, public health issues or quarantine or
threats of public health issues, financial currency fluctuations, strikes, government restrictions, fire or severe
weather conditions that make it impossible commercially, in the reasonable opinion of CET, to conduct The
Program, or acts or omissions of any other agents over which the Released Parties have no direct or indirect
control, including without limitation, airlines, railways, bus companies, hotels, shipping companies, guides and
subcontracted agents or tour operators. I assume the risks of the Program being held in foreign destinations. I
understand and acknowledge that CET and its affiliates do not own or operate any entity that provides goods or
services on The Program.
3. CET accepts no liability for any inadvertent errors in the printed or on-line materials of CET, its agents, employees,
officers, directors, associates, affiliated companies, or subcontractors.
4. I understand and agree that CET shall have no liability or responsibility when I am absent from a CET-supervised
activity or for non CET-supervised activities. I further agree to maintain a good record of class attendance. I agree
to abide by CET rules and regulations and directions of my Resident and/or Academic Directors, program leader or
CET personnel during The Program. Failure to do so may result in CET terminating me from the program. I
understand that to disobey such rules and directions is to waive the right to a refund of any part of my program fee
and that CET may then send me home at my own expense.
5. All services are subject to the laws of the country in which they are rendered. I agree to abide by all laws when
abroad, including those concerning drugs and alcohol. I understand should I violate such laws, even unintentionally,
I waive my right to a refund of any part of the program fee, and CET may send me home at my own expense. I also
understand that should local authorities be involved, I will be subject to the laws of the country I am visiting.
6. I understand and agree that CET has the right to make changes in The Program and departure dates and to modify
transportation arrangements. In the event of such changes, refunds will be given only in accordance with the
provisions of the Student Agreement.
7. I understand that it is my responsibility to secure the necessary travel documents (passports and visas) unless
specifically arranged for the group by CET. Failure to do so does not constitute grounds for refund except according
to the standard cancellation guidelines as outlined in the Student Agreement.
8. In the event of illness or injury, I hereby accept liability and agree to make payment for all reasonable and
necessary costs and expenses of health and medical treatment and care while participating in the program. I further
authorize any representative abroad of CET to take any action they deem necessary for my safety and well-being,
including securing medical treatment, surgery, and anesthesia (at my own expense) and transporting me home.
9. I understand that CET sometimes uses photographs and videos of program students in its printed and on-line
publicity materials. I have no objection to the use of such photographs and videos in which I appear. I understand
that in an effort to present programs from a student’s perspective, CET sometimes uses student-created materials
such as photographs, blog posts, videos, films, written work, evaluation comments, etc. to promote CET programs
in print, online and in-person, and I permit CET to use these types of materials, created by me, to promote CET
10. I understand and agree that this Liability Disclaimer, Release, and Agreement and CET’s Student Agreement
constitute the entire agreement between CET and me with reference to the subject matter herein, and I do not rely
upon any promises, inducements, or agreements not herein, including but not limited to any oral statements made
to me by any agents or employees of CET, or the Sponsor, or my school or Resident and/or Academic Director.
This agreement may be amended or modified only in writing, signed by both parties. The waiver by CET any
provision of this agreement shall in no way affect the remaining provisions of this agreement and this agreement
shall be interpreted as if such clause or provision were not contained herein.
11. I understand and agree that this agreement shall be governed in all respects by the laws of the District of Columbia.
In the event of any claim, dispute or proceeding arising out of my relationship with CET, or any claim in contract,
tort, or otherwise at law, or in equity arises between me and the Released Parties, whether or not related to this
agreement, the parties shall submit and consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of the District
of Columbia and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
