ABL STATE CHAMBER AND ANZ FORM ALLIANCE TO HELP SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE
BUSINESSES IN NSW BECOME MORE COMPETITIVE
In a quest to boost the competitiveness and growth of businesses in NSW, ABL State Chamber and
ANZ has formed a major alliance to support small to medium size businesses (SMEs).
The NSW Minister for Small Business David Campbell announced the alliance as part of the Small
Business September program, a NSW Government initiative that supports and promotes the future
economic well being of the small business sector.
“The NSW Government welcomes any and all positive initiatives such as this alliance to help the
State’s small business sector thrive,” Minister Campbell said.
ABL State Chamber’s CEO Mr MacDonald said it is appropriate that two long standing and respected
organisations combine their individual strengths to help the thousands of small to medium size
businesses in NSW.
”Both organisations have developed a knowledgeable insight into the problems and challenges these
businesses endure. We have a broad understanding of their business needs especially the business
environments in which they operate.
“To make NSW a leading state once more requires business to improve its operations, to sustain its
growth, and more importantly, become highly competitive.
“Over the years both ABL State Chamber and ANZ have accumulated - and supported - the SME
market with information and advice to improve its operations.
“We can now, through the collaboration of two industry leaders, offer small and medium size
businesses a broader, improved and more cost effective range of services, events, research and
information.”
According to ANZ ’s NSW Chairman Scott Reid the Minister’s praise for the Alliance shows the NSW
Government’s commitment to the small business sector attaining stronger growth and increased
competitiveness.
“ANZ recognises that business owners require tailored products and solutions designed to meet their
needs, from a bank that understands their business.
“The strategic alliance with ABL State Chamber is being formed to strengthen our existing services
and support business in NSW. We are focused on developing solutions to meet the emerging needs
of SME business owners,” he said.

“Our aim is to partner with ABL State Chamber on the issues that matter to these businesses – the
challenges of funding growth and accessing capital, and ultimately the challenge of generational
change and succession planning.
“To support our commitment to this partnership, ANZ has developed an exclusive offer to ABL State
Chamber members of a discounted loan package, merchant facility and a no obligation financial
planning consultation.
“This will be supported by a dedicated telephone banking hotline for ABL State Chamber members to
assist them with their banking and financing needs,” said Mr Reid.
