Runners in the Marathon must be aged 18 or over on race day.
Runners in the Relay team of 5 must be aged 15 or over on race day and in the Relay team of 2, runners must be aged 17 or over on race day.
Each Relay team will comprise two or five runners, with each team member running one sector of the race.
Each sector of the Relay race for teams of 5, will be of differing distance and it is the responsibility of the Team Captain to allocate
those sectors accordingly.
All entry fees are non-returnable.
Entrants are not permitted to bring onto the course any item of mechanical or electrical apparatus or equipment without the express
written permission of the organisers.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to any person making a false declaration on their entry form or failing to meet the
required entry standards.
All entrants take part at their own risk and must sign a declaration releasing, indemnifying and forever discharging all claims against
the event organisers and their representatives.
All runners must keep to the left hand side of the road, unless directed to do otherwise by the Police or Marshals.
There will be a six hour time limit for both events. Outside these limits the course will not be attended by the Police or Marshals.
Runners on the course outside these limits will be so at their own risk.
If requested to do so by an official, runners must retire from the race and must comply with any directions or instructions given.
Any runner will qualify for the fastest Guernsey runner if they were born in Guernsey. A runner may be considered to be born in
Guernsey if their mother was normally resident on the island immediately prior to the birth and returned to the island soon after.
Also, any runner may qualify if they have been normally resident in Guernsey for a continuous period of one year prior to the event.
Any runner will qualify for the fastest Channel Island runner if they were born in one of the Channel Islands other than Guernsey.
A runner may be considered to be born in the Channel Islands if their mother was normally resident on one of the Channel Islands
immediately prior to the birth and returned to the island soon after. Also, any runner may qualify if they have been normally resident
in one of the Channel Islands other than Guernsey for a continuous period of one year prior to the event.
The organisers reserve the right to alter, add to, or waive all or any of the Official Rules and all entrants shall be bound by those
modifications, if and when published prior to the event.
DECLARATION:
(a) By submitting this application I agree to be bound by the Official Rules of the event and understand that it is my responsibility to
consult the event website www.guernseymarathon.gg for the most up to date version of the rules.
(b) I understand that participating in this event is potentially hazardous, and that I should not enter and participate unless I am medically
able and properly trained.
(c) In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I assume full responsibility for any injury or accident that may occur while I am
travelling to or from the event, or while I am on the premises of the event. I am also aware of and assume all risks associated with
participating in this event, including, but not limited to, falling with other participants, the effects of weather, traffic and conditions
of the road.
(d) I, for myself and my heirs and executors, hereby waive, release and forever discharge the event organisers, sponsors, promoters,
and each of their agents, representatives, successors and assigns, and all other persons and entities associated
either directly or indirectly with the event from all claims, demands, costs, expenses, proceedings arising out of my participation in the
event and I hereby indemnify them against all liability, including, but not limited to liability for and in respect of all injury, death, loss
or damage, arising out of or connected with my participation in the event. For the purpose of this declaration, persons and entities
associated with the event include, but are not limited to, event sponsors, political entities, authorities and officials, Marathon Club
of Guernsey committee members, officials, marshals, volunteers and the directors, employee agents and representatives of all or any
of the aforementioned.
(e) If I am injured or taken ill or otherwise suffer any detriment whatsoever I hereby irrevocably authorise the event officials and
organisers, at my risk and cost, to transport me to a medical facility and/or to administer emergency medical treatment and I waive
all claims that might result from such transport and/or treatment or delay or deficiency therein and shall pay or reimburse to you my
medical and emergency expenses and I hereby authorise you to incur the same and shall provide to race officials such medical data
relating to me as they may request. I agree that nothing herein shall oblige the event officials or organisers or any other person to incur
any expenses or to provide any transport or treatment.
(f) I shall not hold responsible the event organisers for loss of my entry form and/or cheque sent with the entry form.
(g) I give permission, unless I confirm otherwise in writing to the event organisers, for my personal information and details to be processed
for the purposes of event administration and further permit my name, quotes and photographic likeness in still photography or video to
be used for the marketing and promotional purposes of the event.
(h) If the rule of law prevents any of the above paragraphs or any part of them from being enforceable then they shall be construed
so as to give the maximum possible protection to all persons and entities associated directly or indirectly with the event.
(i) Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing the release and indemnity in paragraph (d) above shall operate to release and
indemnify the same persons from any claims arising out of the cancellation or early termination of the whole or any part of any event
upon the grounds of safety.
(j) These terms and conditions of entry are to be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Guernsey and each
participant irrevocably submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Royal Court of Guernsey.
