1. General information
(1) To be eligible for admission to study, the applicant must have completed a related bachelor degree study
programme focusing on economics, marketing, marketing communications and media preparing for a continuing
master’s degree programme.
(2) Admission to study is based on a publicly announced admission procedure in accordance with Section 49 of
Act No. 111/1998 Coll. (Higher Education Act, furthermore referred to as „the Act“).
2. Application Form and Requirements
(1) The Applicants shall complete and submit electronic application available at www.utb.cz / International /
Degree Studies in English / Follow-Up Master’s Programmes (http://www.utb.cz/international/follow-up-master-sprogrammes) by May 31, 2016 (application submission deadline). Officially verified documents which prove the
completion of the required education are subject to recognition and must be submitted together with the
application form and other documents specified in the application form.
(2) Terms and conditions for the recognition of Bachelor’s education and qualifications acquired abroad are
specified in Rector’s Directive RD/10/2014, released on www.utb.cz / International / Useful Information / Rules
and Regulations (http://www.utb.cz/international/rules-and-regulations).
3. Form and Specification of the Admission Procedure
(1) The Dean of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications appoints the Admission Committee, which provides
recommendations concerning the acceptance of applicants. The Committee recommends the acceptance of an
applicant on the basis of the results of the admission procedure and submitted documents. The decision on the
acceptance to study is made by the Dean.
(2) The TBU International Office shall inform the applicants about the results of the admission procedure
immediately after the meeting of the Admission Committee of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications, but no
later than by June 20, 2016.
(3) The condition of acceptance is the successful passing of the entrance examination. The entrance examination
shall have the form of a written examination. The applicants shall write an essay in English on a given topic and
submit it along with the application by the application submission deadline. The essay shall be 2,500–3,000
words long. The maximum score for the essay is 100 points. The minimum score for admission is 70 points.
Essay topic: Trends in global marketing and marketing communications. (4) The applicants are required to prove that their English language competence is at a minimum of level B2 of
the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The applicants shall provide university an
appropriate certificate. 4. Number of Accepted Applicants
(1) The maximum number of students admitted to the master’s degree study programme is 20. The programme
shall be opened provided that there are at least 12 students admitted and requirements concerning the payment
of the tuition fee specified in Section 6 are fulfilled.
5. Decision on Acceptance
(1) The decision on acceptance shall be based on the order of applicants, compiled according to the rating of the
essays they have submitted.
6. Announcement and Publication of Results
(1) Immediately after the meeting of the Admission Committee, a written decision delivered to the addressee only
shall be sent to all applicants (Article 50, Section 5 of the Act). Applicants may request reconsideration of the
decision regarding the admission within the period of 30 days from the day of delivery. The request is to be
submitted to the Dean who issued the decision. The Dean may approve the request and change the original
decision. Otherwise the request shall be passed to the Rector to make a decision. In the course of the
reconsideration of the decision, it is assessed whether or not the decision was issued in compliance with the law
and the internal regulations of Tomas Bata University. Article 50 Section 7 of the Act shall govern further
(2) Provided the decision cannot be delivered to the addressee, it shall be published on the Official Board of the
Faculty of Multimedia Communications. The publishing date shall be considered to be the date of delivery.
7. Tuition Fee Payment
(1) The tuition fee for study in a foreign language is specified by Article 58 Section 5 of the Act; for the academic
year 2016/2017 shall be EUR 2,500 (two thousand five hundred Euros). Admitted applicants must pay the tuition
fee within 15 days from the day of enrolment. The possibility of fee refund is specified in Rector’s Directive
SR/2/2011, Article 3. The above-mentioned fee amount shall remain unchanged throughout the whole period of
study of the admitted student in the selected type of study. (2)The tuition fee for the study in the foreign language is non-refundable in the event of the termination of the
study in accordance with:
(a) Section 56 Para 1b) of Higher Education Act, (a student fails to meet the requirements of a degree
programme as set out in the Study and Examination Regulations)
(b) Section 65 Para 1c) of Higher Education Act, (a student is expelled for disciplinary infractions)
(c) Section 67 of Higher Education Act (a student is expelled for a fraudulent act on their part during the
admission procedure)

(1) Enrolment date for accepted students: September 19, 2016. Newly-accepted students must enroll in person.
Provided an accepted applicant does not appear in person on September 19, 2016 without excuse, he or she will
lose the right to enrol (Article 51 of the Act). Due to serious health or personal problems of newly-accepted
students the date of enrolment can be stipulated individually.

In compliance with Article 27, Section 1(e) of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. (Higher Education Act) on 24
January 2016, the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications has approved these
conditions for the acceptance to study in a study programme taught at the FMC.
