be processed. If you have not yet activated your card, please call 1300 796 844.
• *The request will only be processed up to 95% of the limit applicable to your card at the time of processing. If you request a higher
amount we will only process up to 95% of your current credit limit.

Section 4 – Balance Transfer terms and conditions
You may at any time request us, and we may agree, to transfer any debit balance of a non-Bankwest-branded Australian credit card,
store card or charge card account held by you or an Additional Cardholder to the card account subject to the following terms:
• We do not accept balance transfers from any Bankwest-branded credit cards;
• Only Australian issued non-Bankwest-branded credit/store cards can be balanced transferred;
• Your or the Additional Cardholder (as relevant) are not in default of the terms and conditions applicable to the account
from which the transfer is made;
• *The request will only be processed up to 95% of the limit applicable to your card at the time of processing.
If you request a higher amount we will only process up to 95% of your current credit limit;
• We will process the balance transfers in the order that you request them and we will not be responsible for any delay
or any charges in connection with processing a request for a balance transfer;
• We will not close a card account non-Bankwest branded card account. If you wish to, or are required to, close
a non-Bankwest-branded card account, you will need to arrange this; and
• A request will only be processed to your card account once the card has been activated. If you have just received your card,
call 1300 796 844 to activate your card.
Section 5 – Transferring balances from other credit card accounts to my Bankwest credit card
What is a balance transfer?
Balance transfers are a great way to consolidate your credit, charge or store cards or get a better deal on amounts you owe on more
expensive credit cards. A balance transfer is when you transfer an outstanding balance from a non-Bankwest-branded credit, charge or
store card account to your Bankwest-branded credit card. You can transfer the balance from more than one credit, charge or store card.
What are the advantages of a balance transfer?
Doing a balance transfer can help you simplify your finances. By transferring your balances to one card and closing your other credit
card accounts, your money will be easier to manage because you will have just one monthly statement and one monthly payment.
Plus, when you transfer balances from high interest credit, charge or store cards to a Bankwest-branded card that has a lower interest
rate, you can clear your debt faster, and save interest and time.
How much can be transferred?
You can transfer amounts more than $500 and up to 95% of your available credit limit on your Bankwest-branded credit card at the time
of processing. If you request a higher amount Bankwest will process part of the balance up to 95% of your credit limit. You can apply to
increase your credit limit simply by calling 13 17 19. Approval for a credit limit increase is subject to Bankwest’s normal lending criteria.
Does Bankwest arrange for other card(s) to be closed?
No. Once Bankwest has paid or part-paid the balance on your other card, it’s your responsibility to close that card.
Remember, the original account will stay open until you arrange its closure with the financial institution.
How long does it take to transfer a balance?
It usually takes less than five working days to process your request but if you haven’t used your Bankwest-branded card yet,
you will need to make sure it is activated. You can to this by calling us on 1300 796 844.
